At that time I was 16 years old when he became secretary of the Girl Scout organization and given the task to participate in social service activities Homestay is an activity to feel the bitterness of the way into the middle class people with minimal income. This time my destination was Sukabumi, West Java. I arrived at 11 am in one of the houses to ask for permission to occupy the house for 3 days. I was very surprised when entering the room the only paved the ground floor, the walls are made of woven bamboo and the roof was cracked, I was very concerned with their place of residence, even if the circumstances do not allow them to keep treating me kindly. Not much we went straight talk and have started to close.
She is a mother who lives disebuah Sumarni a rundown house left by her husband who died of disease, he has 3 baby smart and all three were aged between 6-9 years. I am really interested in hearing the story of his life. I asked him "what's normal work you do?" He replied with Sundanese dialect "Mom just onion farmers washerwoman +". "Income mothers how much a month?" He replied "I do not have a fixed income, sometimes if onion harvesting get money but if not harvested mother can only Rp 200,000 a month. heard I was concerned and became interested in studying his life. livelihood is as an onion farmer and laundress. every day he woke up early to prepare breakfast and school clothes for her child , and even then not all children attend only the first child just a school. Due to limited funds he could not afford to send their children to another. nevertheless always taught his younger brother first child learning to read, write and count. It makes me impressed and proud. every morning I accompany the mother to farming, to reach his field takes 1 hour for being at the foot of the mountain Pangrango. repose I saw him only sandals worn with the clothes on their backs. every day he had to climb to the field. Upon arriving, he immediately hoeing and planting onions. he never complained to the situation became a farmer does not make desperate to meet his family. when there is free time, her three children always helped mother to farm, they gleefully ran up the mountain without fear. they are also looking for firewood in the forest for cooking at home . Here I feel how they struggle. In simplicity, they are still able to smile sweetly as if not having a problem.
