My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

In a country where overpopulation is more than common, stunning beauty is not only found in the quality of one's surroundings, but also in the vast quantity of it. The magnitude of millions of people living in thousands of rectangular flats, with even more thousands of square windows. Where all apartment buildings always remain under construction, yet every religion's traditional houses of prayer still dominate the skyline. Where one not only has to look up at the vastness of the architecture looming over him, but also down; at its beautiful reflection in the dormant waters on the streets. (And then be called an idiot by the locals for examining the "sewage waters").
And yet -
Take a close peek at the tiny coral details of that little boulder by the sea. Examine the intricate symmetrical patterns on but one of the window shutters. Now multiply that detail by a million boulders and twenty million windows. THAT is the staggering beauty of Alexandria.
