About africaisacountryblog

Who am I and What do I stand for? OK, President of the United States, world at large…I am Sadie Scotch (real alias, just plain Sarah Scotch), your average 30 something woman who travels on and off. I just got back from a whirlwind, two-year journey around the Greater Asia region, as I called it; everything from Australasia to South East Asia to the Subcontinent to a few Middle Eastern countries to boot. What’s more, three years before this fun-loving trip, I had worked and traveled for three consecutive years in mostly African and Eastern European countries. Rewind a bit more and you will find the studious Sadie studying abroad during uni and high school in France and Belgium respectively. Why so much travel? In fact, I just can’t decide on any other concrete thing to do so I usually find myself planning the next escape when things get complicated (like having to find a new job or place to live, so tough). So the obvious next step is to start blogging, applying for blogging scholarships and hoping that someone who isn’t even on Facebook can master the intricacies of the on-line, self-promoting ego fest that is having your very own blog. So follow me (still working on how to do that sans Facebook), hear amazing cheap and amazingly cheap stories, and live vicariously through my travels. Probably not the times when I was having stomach cramps and vomiting for an entire month in Laos or Myanmar, but the fun ones where I discovered cool places and met even cooler people. Sure, someone’s probably done this all before me, but hopefully there’s still room out there in the big bad interwebs for one more person to make a name for herself. And maybe some freebee trips across the world to top it off. Very self-interested, I know.
