My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Antônio Emygdio, I’m a 34 year-old self-educated amateur photographer. I work on the financial industry but always wanted the photography to play a larger role in my life.

I love being on the road and I consider myself mainly a travel photographer, though the pics I sent were taken near my place.

I still have a lot to learn, especially regarding photographing people (how to approach them without being invasive, for instance) and lighting techniques.

I also believe that I need to find my personal photographing style, the right way to convey my vision and sensibility to the viewer. Something that would make my work unique and distinguish me from the crowd.

As strong points, I think I have an accurate sensibility to capture the mood of the place as well as a strong willingness to work on an image to perfection (although, sometimes, I do not know exactly what the “perfection” is).

Regarding the prize, it would bring together the two things I love the most: travelling and photographing. But most importantly, it would allow me to work side by side with a renowned nature photographer, an opportunity I’ve never had and that could, who knows, change the course of my life.
