My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am a Film graduate from Bucharest who developed a great passion for documentary photography. This resulted in personal projects that I undertake in between work. I gather money for film, chemicals and travel costs and travel to places I feel enthusiastic about. It's not often that I can manage to do this, so I often take my camera with me on Saturday mornings and wander the streets of Bucharest with it. This is why this opportunity you are offering is so exciting for me. Besides being part of a photographic project, the learning aspect of it all is the one that I appreciate the most.

For me, photography is a very personal way of communication, in fact it is the only way that I feel I can truly communicate with the world around me. My greatest desire is to be able to transform it from a great passion to a way of life. I am quite shy as a person, but when I have the camera in my hands, I become confident and feel at peace with myself. For me photography is something absolutely irreplaceable because it makes me feel I have a place in this world.
