I'm writing this the morning after my first full day in UB. I was too jet lagged around 7:30pm to write so I took a nice long nap which turned into a sleep.
Anyways, yesteday I was kind of lazy in that I didn't plan anything except to see a traditional arts show which didn't happen because of a recent location change. So my morning started off with eating a ton of free bread and jam from the hostel, wrote some emails, and then one of my roommates and I went to the State Department store. It looks like a shitty office building on the outside but inside it is multi levels of shopping.
After that we got some mongolian fast food. For about 3 bucks I got a big bowl of spicey ramen and iced tea. I also picked up some Mongolian dumplings called Buuz later in the day. I think it's filled with minced goat meat. Either way, everything tastes good but there is a lack of salt at dinner tables.
In the afternoon, after my nap and disappointment at not getting to see the show, my roommate (whose name is Chris) and I went out for a beer and then walked around Chinggis Khaan's memorial, Beatles "monument", and found the Mongolian Arts Ensemble. I'm definately seeing a show tonight!
Anywho, yesterday wasn't a total loss but definately helped me get used to the direction of the city.
