Volunteer Abroad in Cameroon: Volunteering Opportunities
Volunteer Abroad in Cameroon: is a safe Central African Republic bordered to the west by the Gulf of Guinea.
One of the most diverse countries in Africa, Cameroon is often referred to as "Africa in miniature”. Cameroon
has everything you would expect from the African continent; tropical
rainforests, deserted golden beaches, great expanses of desert, vast
lakes and savannah, and volcanic mountains in-between.
Compared with other African countries, Cameroon enjoys political and social stability. Nevertheless, large numbers of Cameroonians live
in poverty as subsistence farmers. The unemployment rate is high and
those who are employed perform mostly agricultural tasks. The HIV/AID
crises have hit hard especially the children, many of whom lack proper
healthcare. Cameroon has one of the highest school
attendance rates in Africa. Although attendance rates are high, there
is a shortage of teacher leaving schools chronically understaffed.
Cameroon
is having two seasons that is the rainy and dry season; the rainy
season runs from March to September while the dry season runs from
October to February. The major spoken languages are still English and
French but a multitude of more than 200 ethnic languages are also in
circulation, with various tribes populating the country.
This is a great opportunity to explore life in rural areas in Cameroon, live and work amongst the locals and realize one person can make a difference.
