My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am a student at the TUDelft faculty of industrial design and engineering, The Netherlands. For a long time now I have a passion for photography, I have never had the opportunity to go next level. I love doing it, staying out in the cold in the evenings, getting up to early to catch the first light or asking permission to take a photograph of someone. It doesn't matter what the challenge is (the challenge is something I came up with to challenge me to take a new and better picture than before). I enjoy trying the impossible, however I can also stand still and enjoy what I have created so far.
Unknown territory makes me want to make that awesome shot even more, but the most common thing to do is to photograph everything. There is so much to take in, but what makes that place unique? That is what I am trying to catch with the photograph(s) I take, how does an expert do this? Sometimes decisions need to be made in seconds, what does the expert do on such moments, cause holding the shutter isn't the option.
