For someone who has lesser travelling experience than others, the “first” place will always be the most significant and remarkable journey! Japan, will always have a special place in my heart. I have always been fascinated and interested by this country, amidst its bustling cities and modern buildings, bullet trains, and unique sense of fashion lays a country with strong hold of its own culture, values, beliefs and beauty. And when I did have the opportunity to study through a grant and live there for 2 years, this country saw the many firsts in me and has given me a fresh start, new life and new perspectives. This place bore witness to my dreams, my ambitions and most of all it has given me the opportunity to unfold my creativity.
My series of photos represents my simple idea of what is life on a daily basis, a simple memoirs of how rich the Japanese culture is and a look of an old and modern Japan converge into what it is today. I want tell others through what I have seen on my lenses the contrasting beauty of urban and rural life, how this country progressively advanced while keeping it being traditional. Something I can not completely describe how I truly appreciate their values and traditions as a whole. As a beginner in the art of photography with no formal trainings much less, this special place has given me so many ways to discover the passion. I am still on the process of learning the techniques and I admit that my level of skills are not solid compare to others since most of my photos are based on what I have seen before my eyes. This will give me the chance to polish my skills and maybe able to experience again the joy and adventure of travelling to another magnificent country and to embrace, enjoy and most of all learn a new culture, language and beauty.
