These photos were taken in October 2011 at a center for Tibetan refugees just outside of Kathmandu, Nepal. The center offers refugees a place to create and sell their rugs woven with traditional Tibetan patterns.
The opportunity to take these photos came at the end of bike trip taken through Tibet. At the end of the trip I flew from Lhasa, Tibet to Kathmandu. After meeting people throughout Tibet, and experiencing the raw countryside of the mountains, seeing these weavers working on their craft was a great privilege.
Photography has been a great interest of mine for some years, and has served as a valuable way of communicating with people from other cultures, even when we don't share a common spoken or written language.
