My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Ecuador | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos

As a child, reading natural history I always wanted to go to the Amazon and write for Nat Geo. age 18 I went to Kangaroo Island with my dads old 35mm Pentax and a spirit for adventure. Living close to the marine ecology inspired me to study marine biology; At uni I realised the way i would contribute to the awareness and conservation of this unique planet was through photography & dreamt again of Nat Geo. After uni, I rewarded myself with 6-months in Ecuador! I volunteered at a wildlife refuge, taught English & became intimate with local peoples way of life, photographing every moment. Now I work on the Great Barrier Reef aiming to raise awareness of one of our most precious environments. My passion for photography is obsessive; I hone my skills everyday. It's been 4 years since Ecuador, & I have learned a lot since then. I love to talk photography; share ideas, experiences, technical stuff, it’s my life! I am a firm believer of once we stop learning we stop living. It would be an honour and privilege to learn from Jason Edwards. Nat Geo- while most people think its an unrealistic dream, I have always believed it can happen. That is why I am entering this competition. Thank you.
