My Scholarship entry - Love

South Africa | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 3 photos

The first time i ever picked up a camera i was at the young age of 15. There i stood holding my Canon SLR film camera excited like a little kid on christmas morning, about to take my first ever photograph and i hold the camera to my eye and click the film rolls to the next slide. The feeling that i got from the sounds of the shutter going off and the film rolling over i will never forget. I experienced the same feeling seeing the people of Africa.
It really made me think about the importance of photography. In a world of change i hope to achieve, through my photography, a sense of performance, and if things can't be saved, they can be remembered through photo journalism.

I currently work in retail and find very little time to work on my photography so I would love the opportunity to be mentored by renowned National Geographic photographer, Jason Edwards. Being able to improve my photography skills and knowledge would be an experience of a lifetime.

Thank you for taking the time to look over my application and I hope you consider me as a strong candidate.
