Chile Santiago | San Pedro de Atacama - 6th August

Hola amigos! Here we are in Santiago, Chile. After a comfortable 14 hour overnight flight and a short underground journey on the amazing tube system, we made it to our accommodation. We didn't really get up to much in Santiago except book our bus journey for the following day and eat a tasty steak for dinner. We were feeling pretty jetlagged, especially as we arrived in the morning with our body still in New Zealand mode, a whole half day ahead.
I did well but couldn't help falling asleep at about 7pm, only to wake up at about 2am and not be able to sleep again. How I hate jet lag. Oresti is boring when I can't sleep, he just ignores me.
The following day we jumped on our bus and headed to San Pedro de Atacama. It was an almost 24 hour bus ride but it was on a comfy bus with better service than on an aeroplane. We even got pillows and a blanket.  Ah luxury! I spent a lot of the journey dozing off, making up for lost sleep.  We arrived in the morning and quickly noticed how quirky this little town was, in the middle of the Atacama desert, where some areas are claimed to be the driest on earth, and some parts further  north having never experienced rainfall on modern records!
There, we mostly chilled out and had an amazing time sandboarding. It was our first time and I must say that we were pretty awesome at it. Especially as the slope was a steep one. We then saw sunset at the Valley De La  Luna. It was spoilt by too many tourists. Never mind, at least the views were amazing.
