Welcome to our online Journal (no, it’s not a blog…and let's not start with what the differences are!). After a few technical difficulties, it's finally up!

We are Samantha and Brad Fernandes settled in Mississauga, ON, Canada. We have both wanted to travel for more than the two weeks a year but never got around to doing it for all good reasons. We finally realized we were at a point in our lives where we decided we wanted to take a year off to accomplish some things close to our hearts – spend quality time with family, travel and volunteer.

No. We didn’t win the lottery or inherit a pot of gold. And no. We’re not wild at heart, the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type of people. We’re actually pretty level-headed individuals (we’d like to think so anyway!) that are cautious than most. So what changed? Well, we both have slightly different reasons but the core of it is the same, we both wanted more out of life and felt it was now or never!

This journal is likely not going to be your travel blog with tips and how-to's. It's simply a way for us to share some of our memories with friends and family and to hopefully have something to look back on one day!
