The whole, roast, suckling pig is served with a salad consisting of lettuce, tomato and onion picked from the garden and then drizzled with olive oil. I'm taken by the simplicity of the dishes. It is a reflection of the people and the place...straight forward, close to it's origins and full of flavor.

One of eight brothers stands at the entrance to a small kitchen overseeing the preparation of the days feast. He seems dissatisfied and his wife tells me that, although he would never admit to the defeat, it's because his youngest brother caught bigger cangrejo de río (crayfish) then he did. She winks when she tells me this and every time he shifts impatiently or makes a hurumphing sound she looks at me and we giggle.

The eldest of eight brothers uses a stick he picked up on the path for support on his walk after dinner. This is his families land and has been for a long time. He tells me that they planted the trees in rows because they are great connoisseurs of shade.
