Travel is a passion for many; my heart is one of the thousands upon thousands around the globe that swoons when spying round-the-world tickets in travel agent windows or special one-way tickets to faraway places.
I've always had admiration for those people who have a passion for one place and travel there over and over again. Essentially they become what I would view as an outside local learning as much as they can about varying aspects of a country - culturally, linguistically, gastronomically, geographically...
If it were possible I'd visit every single country on this globe - content, tired and chubby indulging in local language, views and food.
However, fate stepped in. Soon I found myself with a lifelong partner, a new family and friends, a new country to call home and more recently a baby. I look at our daughter and wonder how her life will be later on (from a travel perspective) with a bilingual and bicultural background - what adventures she will have, where she will settle (or won't settle), and which decisions in general await her.
I'm curious to see how our daughter behaves and interacts on this trip as she meets her Argentinian family for the first time. Will she come back with her first words in Spanish? Will she come back with a new perspective on life here in Australia?
This trip essentially is a welcome to our daughter to her 2nd home and a goodbye for her Dad to his homeland for a little while. I hope that some day we can settle in Argentina for a time and with the years divide our time between two countries and two cultures if possible.
This trip is the start of a new chapter - the coming together of families and cultures.
Bring on the adventures & the love!
