    The air grows colder as the day draws to a close. The five o’clock crowd rushes home past an old man. He stands hour after hour; hoping that enough money will be given to him to sustain life for one more day. But passers-by have become desensitized to the plight of the homeless, leaving him with nothing but an empty cup and a frozen face. Views[176] A girl twirls, posing for a photo to commemorate her quinceañera; Air Jordans peak out from below her ball gown. The stark contrast between shoes and dress mirrors the dichotomy between girl and city. Tradition holds on even as commerciality threatens to overwhelm it. Views[1411] Forty years ago the Prudential building was the tallest in the city of Chicago. Now it disappears into a skyline dominated by sleek skyscrapers. But the solid structure still stands watch over Millennium Park. Its plain façade catches the last rays as the sun sinks behind the rest of the city to the west.
