Delhi to Leh

INDIA | Tuesday, 6 October 2009 | Views [66]

I can't believe i have only been here for two days!!  Flew into Delhi late, Dave met me at the airport and we enjoyed a crazy cab ride to our hotel in the Paharganj part of Delhi.  Very reminissant of Cairo driving, organized chaos!  i can't even try to put into words the citey.  there are cows walking down the street, cars, rickshaws, bikes, people all bustling by.  everything is loud and fast.  we went to amazing tomb, also know as the taj of Delhi.  it was peaceful and awing.  bueatiful domes and red and white stone.  We then went to the larges mosquin india, the Jama masjid.  Big courtyard where people were lounging about.  This was right in the craziness of Old Delhi where over the mosque walls yuo could see slum bulidings.  Back to our neck of the woods for a late lunch/dinner.  All the while we are traveling by auto-rickshaw.  the drivers always tell you you have to stop by a shop "dont have to buy, just look, real good acting" so they can get a commision.  "You help me and i help you."  we were sick of that after two shops and refused to play that game.  Dalhi is a crazy place, realy neat to experience but glad we got out soon.  Up at 3:15 in the morning for our flight to LEH!
