My Video scholarship 2010 entry: "Lost Mexico

MEXICO | Saturday, 31 July 2010 | Views [1975] | Comments [3] | Scholarship Entry

When I discovered La Mesilla, New Mexico, an old Mexican town near Juarez, México I got shocked:  How come people from other country conserve their past while in others old buildings are destroyed and historic facts are barely known? (I.e. in Juarez ended the Mexican revolution).

I wanted to show how people are aware and proud about their origins and that we should be too. So I planned to go back to La Mesilla and Albuquerque, but then I found something better: a Cowboy campsite near Las Cruces, to learn about their history, culture and customs with emphasis in their origins like Mexico and North Africa.

I began from scratch: searching how to do a documentary, learning to write a script, to drive in mountains (almost kill the motor), to download and use basic editing programs… using a digital camera! I enjoyed learning a lot!

I would never been so enthusiastic in this video if I wouldn’t haven't travelled in Europe and Asia; because I realized about the potential my region has, and now I love it and respect it more than ever. Therefore, my ambition is to teach respect and admiration within cultures, their nature and uniqueness.
