My Scholarship entry - Yangon Circular Railway

Australia | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

Stranded in the Stockholm archipelago during a storm and being rescued by Swedish seamen; eating pierogi with a Siberian family and five Siberian huskies; laughing with Polish paramedics in their ambulance playing Blondie's Heart of Glass en route to Warsaw Hospital: these are all experience which I will remember for the rest of my life. This year I quit my job and spent four months travelling from London to Tokyo via train and ferry. My camera was my constant companion. Together we observed and adventured, meeting old and new friends, visiting familiar and unfamiliar places.

I have a huge passion for language-learning and immersing myself in other cultures. My background in science and geography means I have a logical outlook and natural curiosity for the world, skills which complement my love of documentary photography. Speaking to new people and sharing stories through my photos is something I hope to continue doing for the rest of my life; to learn from Jason would be an incredible opportunity which would help me take the next step towards achieving this goal.
