My Scholarship entry - New Horizons

"Why are we learning this?" is a common question students tend to ask. I am applying for the World Nomad Scholarship to utilize the knowledge I have obtained as a student working towards a Bachelor's of Chemistry. I have always been intrigued by the way colors get reflected to our eyes through the spectral composition of the light emitted. This, alongside my passion for science, has left me with the desire to gain some experience in the academic discipline of natural science. This is such a great opportunity because it will help me understand how the knowledge of a classroom applies to real situations as well as reinforce the concepts taught in class. With this opportunity, I will improve my academic and professional potential, establish and frame my skills, and gain very valuable work experience. Furthermore, coming to America as an International student has enhanced my desire to take advantage of the vast number of opportunities for research and innovation. Finally, as an aspiring physician, I hope that this will allow me to gain some invaluable work experience while strengthening my application to medical school.
