My Creative Interpretation of Reality

My Scholarship entry - Adventure Travel

I am a Junior at the University of Oregon Journalism school studying Photography and Documentary Production. My goal is to specialize in the adventure travel realm of the industry. As I got older I made sure to learn how to be able to do almost anything in a competent way so that I was comfortable when shooting. I climb, backcountry ski, sail, scuba dive, flyfish, class 5 rafter, and the list goes on. This allows me to go almost anywhere and feel comfortable in places and positions that most people do not. I have learned that getting the right shot or footage often time relies on the shooter having to be uncomfortable for an X amount of time until the moment is right and everything comes together. I feel like it is up to me to be patient and make it happen. I would like to be chosen for the scholarship because I have lots to learn in this industry and I learn best when I have the opportunity to watch someone talented work. I soak up what they do like a sponge and then use what they teach me to inspire my work. I know I would learn a lot.
