My Scholarship entry - Sir, can i see your passport?

Myanmar | Saturday, November 22, 2014 | 5 photos

I had planned to wright a “This is why you should choose me” style of application. But instead I have submitted a short story and hope you can gage my passion from it.

Engineering was never really my calling, I should have known this when I first attended university and found my professors war story’s infinitely more interesting than “fundamentals of fluid mechanics”. Alas though I persisted and graduated with honours as a Civil engineer.

After graduation I found myself disembarking at Imam Khomeini Airport in Tehran. Iran is one of those places you expect to see men calling for blood and the down fall of the west. Instead I was treated to hospitality like no other, over a millennia of rich culture and even quoted poetry in the street!

I have been traveling now for some time, I have danced in the streets during riots in Belfast, taken motorbikes through remote Vietnamese forests, attended Burmese court hearings, taken taxies pas nuclear facilities, swam in the Atlantic on Christmas day, shared tea with mullahs and been escorted between towns by military police.

I hope from this brief introduction and photos from my trip to Burma you will consider me for this scholarship.
