My Scholarship entry - The simple pleasures on Folegandros

Academically trained and working as an architect, I have an affinity for the built environment. Outside my vocation, I enjoy travelling and being in touch with nature. Born in Singapore, I have lived in Australia and UK and consider myself a modern nomad and citizen of the world.

My love for photography began when I learnt to develop and process black and white film in the dark room, seeing my images take shape. It is from my travels where I found myself observing and documenting through my lens obsessively, to bring out the stories, emotions and fleeting moments of life to the wider audience.

My continued passion in photography has driven me to consider a career change. Trying to start out in a whole new industry now is challenging and daunting. This opportunity would allow me to build a strong foundation in the beginnings of my journey and understand how Jason Edwards works and creates images out in the field. I hope to finesse my ability to tell a story and better depict my narratives. I believe that photography can be a very powerful medium in engaging the viewer and hope that eventually, I can create images that brings a message to a wider audience.
