My Scholarship entry - Ancient traditions still thrive
Capturing images has always been a time capsule for my mind and a way for me to share all that I have experienced at home or abroad.
I've found love, loss, inspiration, and the whole spectrum of emotions through the photographic medium. I've also found that photography can help others and that is what really connects me with it. It can affect change.
Besides a workshop on portrait and documentary photography, I am self taught, starting with a film camera in 2003 and working my way to a dSLR in 2010. Since then I have tried to capture the world around me and document the changes happening such as the Istanbul protests in the Summer of 2013 while I was teaching there.
My hope is that through this mentorship I will be able to better hone my craft and help others.
