My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

United Kingdom | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos

I'm Dulcie, I'm 19 and from England. I'm currently spending a year working in Australia.
Growing up I spent my holidays traveling around the UK with my family. I think that's where I really caught the travel bug. A couple of year ago we returned to one of my favourite places. Malham Cove, Yorkshire. One of the things that always fascinated me is how the water has left such a lasting impression on the landscape.
Even though I've sat in that spot on the edge so many times before the view and the feeling I got sitting there still blew me away. At that point I knew I wanted to travel. See and experience new things, never stop exploring and never stop learning.
I think I should be chosen for this scholarship because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and to go with and have the chance to assist a National Geographic photographer such as Jason Edwards would be incredible.
My grandfather went on an expedition to Greenland when he was in the Navy and always told me stories of how it was magical it was. I would love to be the first in my family to follow in his footsteps.
I think i deserve to be given this chance in order to learn from the best and to grow as a photographer.
