My Scholarship entry - Lost in the snow
Finland | Tuesday, November 18, 2014 | 3 photos
I’ve lived in many different countries and my passion for photography came after my passion for travel. I was always leaving someone somewhere and it was my way of keeping the relation alive. Nowadays, it is even more than that, I would like to do for other people what some photographers have done for me: give an inspiration to explore and search for that hidden beauty in even the most banal places or the most difficult moments. I could spend hours taking photos of the same flower and I am never bored of sunsets, and if I can share that childish joy with my images, then I feel purposeful.
For me, moments aren't captured. Photos are pointers, to memories, to inspiration, to places we’ve never been to; all of them very much alive. Hardly anyone is actually addicted to photography, we simply want to marvel at things, rediscover what has been lost in the everyday routine and share our amazement. Photography is learning how to see and teaching how to see.
Today, your scholarship is a way to take my photography one step further, as there is always something to learn. I’ve given up on trying to fit in one place or taming my desire to explore.
