My Scholarship entry - The Accused
Papua New Guinea | Thursday, November 20, 2014 | 5 photos
I am 25 years old and first started taking photographs seriously in 2010.
I would consider my self an amatuer phtotographer and a well seasoned traveller , I am always looking for oppurtunities to improve my technique and i am constantly eager to learn from someone with an exstensive history in photography.
I believe a good photograph can convey more than any words .
The series of photographs i have submiitted are from a recent trip i took to PNG to investigate and document the killing and torture of accused sorcerors in PNG.
The trip was a finacial risk as i quit my stable job of two years , and a physical risk due the taboo nature of the belief . due to my financial limitations i was unable to hire security and needed to do 8 months of preperation in order to get a reliable guide and contacts.
During the 2 month period i suffered from esophageal ulcers caused by my anti malrial pills , and was held under house arrest in a bush hut for four days (for my own safety) by a local tribe after a misunderstanding with a local cult.
I am incredibly resilient and i do not back down easy, this trip was the perfect example of my drive, passion and shows how serious i am about photography .
