My Scholarship entry - The Biodiversity of Southern Africa
South Africa | Sunday, October 26, 2014 | 5 photos
For as long as I can remember, I have had an immense passion for wildlife and photography. I followed my passion for wildlife by studying a BSc Biodiversity and ecology and will be graduating in December. During our course, we often went on field trips to equip us for our future thesis project. This was where I would go crazy with my photography, snapping any creature of vegetation that I could find, developing my skills as I did this more and more often. This degree has enhanced my love for all things belonging to the natural world and has sparked a feeling of wanderlust in my heart. I would love to be a photo journalist for a wildlife magazine one day as it would allow me to merge my two passions. Ever since high school, I have dreamed of exploring the amazon. It has always fascinated me as it is so different to the vegetation that I am used to here in South Africa. One day I would like to travel the world, not to visit the cities which man have built, but to see the wilderness which man has not yet destroyed. I believe that I would be a good candidate as I have an ecological science and photography background and know for certain that I will pursue a career in photojournalism.
