A facet of Shona life

Homesteads must be self-sufficient as trips into town are few and far between. Garlic, onions, tomatoes and collard greens are grown in the vegetable garden. A wall of dried grass surrounds the garden to protect it from chickens and the goats, also sources of food. The garden is grown beside the well, the only source of water for the homestead.
