My Scholarship entry - Leipzig

Hello Jason, my name is Stefan from Leipzig, Germany. I've sort of stumble into photography for not more than six months (!). In the last 4 years my life has changed a lot. I went from a rather negative person to a positive self-employed one. During that time a good Australian/American friend of mine (who also send me the link to that scholarship) and I worked together on putting up an amazing live comedy show with a complete film team in my city. One of the steadicam operator there who is also a passionate photographer got me interested in her photo camera. She seemed to know that I have some sort of talent. So she borrowed me her old EOS-1D and I just played with it in the program mode at that time. She never showed me how to use a camera from a technical aspect, but she showed me that photography is being in the moment, being in the present. So for me photography is mediation. It brings my sometimes fiery character down and relaxes myself. Where does photography lead me? To be honest, I actually don't know. But I love photographing people as much as I enjoy talking to people; and I love to see details other people would never have noticed.
