My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Cuba | Friday, July 5, 2013 | flickr photos
Exposure is something I constantly crave, in its most technical sense and also the careful study of the world in an effort to reveal new cultures and places to myself. Photography has lead me to stand on an electrical box for an hour, taken me inside bustling kitchens, thrown in the middle of politics, brought me to an area devastated by tragedy, and even put me on the island of Cuba. All of this exposure was not only captured by my camera but has also been rendered in its own way on my psyche. I am profoundly moved by the way I see the world through my camera. On the bus, over a morning cup of coffee, in the middle of the street, I see pictures everywhere. I look and photograph in order to better understand and document the human condition in all of its forms and locations. This passion makes me want to share what I see to knit together the fabric of humanity because I believe that to remember, to record, and to share is a core part of what it is to be human. I know this penchant I have to go out and see, but most of all, to go out and photograph can take me anywhere and everywhere. And this is precisely where I want to be, exposing my self, and my camera, to the world.
