Curves of Stone and Marble

Curves in Stone and Marble

India | Saturday, September 11, 2010 | 5 photos

I took these photos in India back in 2007 using a little Pentax digital camera. These photos show the artistic pursuit of curves in India’s architecture. Whether it is the Taj Mahal or ruins off the beaten track, the curves seem to soften the hard stone or marble and make the structures more inviting and friendly. I haven’t done any training in photography but love capturing different perspectives using my little camera. It is easy enough to point and shoot but actually constructing a composition that is rich and speaks volumes about the object is my real passion. The ability to really challenge my little camera to take good photos is also something I enjoy. I work in the medical research sector and photography provides an artistic outlet for me. Sharing photos for me is sharing experiences with people. The ability to transport the viewer to a place or feeling that’s new and evokes curiosity is for me the ultimate goal of a photograph. I would love to be chosen to join Jason Edwards on his expedition to Bhutan. I believe he has an incredible and intrepid eye for capturing unique photographs and would really value the opportunity to learn from his experiences. Also, since I haven’t had any photography training and don’t own a SLR camera, I would very much love to learn all I can about photography and hear Jason’s perspective on what makes a good photo amazing. Lastly, Bhutan, the opportunity to experience and capture in photographs its culture, wildlife and landscape with National Geographic would undoubtedly be a journey of a lifetime and hopefully the beginning of more intrepid adventures.
