My Scholarship entry - Culture Shock
Kenya | Monday, November 24, 2014 | flickr photos
After graduating Ithaca College with a degree in Cinema Production, I had lost all interest in pursuing a career in the motion picture industry. It was a career path that did not align with my passion and outlook on life. I moved to New Jersey to live a simpler life on the coast.
I love to explore the outdoors. Surfing, hiking, and camping are all ways I stay healthy, happy, and become closer to nature. I love to travel. Meeting new people, trying new things, and stepping outside of my comfort zone are ways in which I become more connected with other cultures and beliefs. I am currently happy waiting tables at a restaurant, but I know there are so many places and people in the world that have a story that can be captured and shared. The adventure of getting to those places and meeting those people is the fun part. Learning new things about others and yourself is what is rewarding.
An opportunity such as this from World Nomads would not just be fun, but would allow me to fully immerse myself in the world that I am trying to capture.
