    Flame or frost? With vapour from a chimney and the sun barely on the horizon line during 'kaamos' - the Finnish word for Polar Night - it's as though the trees are on fire. Views[278] Kaarina was a lovely well-trained dog-sledding husky in Erä-susi, Ruka, East Finland. After a tiring 20km dog-sled run, drained of energy, it still hung itself over the fence as a warm gesture to bid us goodbye. Views[1805] Lassi was eventually taken back into the log house for warmth, with a 50 degrees celcius contrast of temperature on the two sides of the window. Views[281] Lassi, flushed and rosy to the cheeks, was still unable to speak at his age. Views[301] Little Lassi, the son of our couchsurfing hosts, frozen on his feet. At such negative temperatures, it was necessary to keep moving to keep warm. Views[333]
