My Scholarship entry - Scottish Scenery

Competing in downhill mountain bike racing was exhilarating for me. But it was the spilt-second timing and balance at speed in the air that led me to discover my interest in filming and photography. Intrigued by the pictures professional photographers took of me and my fellow racers at different events, I felt compelled to try it out for myself.

I became totally absorbed and focused on the work of other photographers. I worked and saved so that I could buy a good camera and started by taking photographs of downhill bike racers and landscape pictures as well as some action pictures of my dog! As my work began to be well received it led to requests for promotional video edits for various downhill racers all over the country. I film and edit all my own work and have been working as a commissioned freelancer since 2011.
