My Scholarship entry - Of Hope and Faith in Kathmandu
The world is made up of stories. Every single person, every little place has its own unique story. And part of my story is to explore other stories that surround me, and to learn from them and appreciate them. Being able to photograph people not only makes them a part of my story, but also makes me a part of theirs. This connection with people and places that photography has brought into my life has profoundly affected the way I see the world and how much I appreciate it. Taking photos has become a pathway for me to explore the human condition.
And as much as I have been able to create with my camera, I have received equally from the world in the form experiences and lessons. Photography has unknowingly encompassed its limits as merely a hobby in my life and just exploring the way a camera works itself has taught me so much more than I could have imagined. I believe that through the camera lens, I am able to bring stories that surround us all the time, yet mostly go unnoticed. Having the chance to receive formal guidance and mentorship from Jason, I believe, could help me pave a way to keep on bringing out such stories and put them out for the world to see.
