My Scholarship entry - Rugs to Riches: Lunch break in Istanbul

I'm a natural-born traveler: light as a feather, curious as a cat. I've been on the road as much as possible for the past 10 years, but it really kicked off when I finished university 5 years ago... since then I've been nearly without a fixed address. I've lived, studied, worked, and played in over 50 countries world-wide, and I've managed to get some incredible shots in all of them. I had a natural affection for photography as a young thing (something to do with Dad's slide-shows) and from middle-school onwards always carried a camera on me... even if they were disposables until I got my first job in highschool! I am in the process of setting myself up for a career in travel journalism: writing and photography, so I can keep "livin' the dream" and eventually develop a travel lifestyle company incorporating those arts with itinerary and trip-building. It is a dream of mine to put on a photo exhibition with my own work one day. In 2011, I took part in launching Canadian-based NGO, Photographers Without Borders, which inspired me to incoporate my passion for photography into my worklife. Experience shooting with a National Geographic Photographer would lend some invaluable guidance.
