I am South African born, raised on boerewors and sunshine. As a child, I decided that I would one day travel the world. Years later, with a degree in Journalism, I came to Asia to sate my curiosity. I teach English in South Korea and travel as often as I can. I love diversity, in landscapes, languages, food and cultures, and I am trying to learn more through my travels.
I didn’t dabble in photography much before university, but I have always been fascinated by story-telling. When I picked up a camera, I found my mechanism. Photography is powerful and provocative. It has the power to inform, create change and inspire wonder in moments. What’s most rewarding is the manner in which it is challenges me – to get a better shot, interrogate what I see and to reflect and question my gaze.
With my camera in hand, I have travelled much of my own country, South Korea, the Philippines and in a few weeks, Malaysia. These experiences have affirmed my love for travel and the itch I get to document it all.
Of my enthusiasm for travel photography I am sure, but I am not ready to stand alone as a professional in this field yet. I would love the opportunity to travel and learn more about this trade.
