My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
these photographs were taken at different places at different times they have one thing in common the subject is sleeping.
For me these pictures talk about awareness; first one can assume that the subject is not aware of being photographed so are not able to pose or comb their hair or make themselves look "respectable" in a way this makes their portraits very realistic. we can never see ourselves sleeping. The subject is not really here with us we are only looking at a body in rest, this is also a comment to the medium of photography itself one can look at a picture but the picture cannot see you.
i have come to consider the camera as a time machine that can magically capture one moment and freeze it in time. with this time capsule i can share with the world the marvels i have seen.
i got my first camera when i was 6 years old and have since been taking photographs I have been to art school and many people have commented that my photographs are something special and i should do something with them. I agree but not really sure what this something might exactly be, i hope this might be that something.
