My Scholarship entry - Impressions from Sikkim

When the world around me rushes past at breakneck speed, aided by its ubiquitous technologies, the simple act of clicking a picture lets me pause, take a step back, breathe and ponder a little.

To me photography, by its very nature, inspires introspection, discovery & adventure. It keeps me quaint company whether I'm with the mountains, the oceans or relishing an intimate moment with loved ones. The joy of stealing away a moment and to stumble upon hidden stories is a thrill like no other.

As an independent film-maker who's just starting out, I constantly grapple with the varied visual & aural experiences the world offers me - taking in all that I come upon and overwhelmed by all that is yet unexplored, yet unseen. To travel to a far away land (very very far in this case!), to surrender to the wonders of nature and explore it all through photography & writing – I can't even begin to imagine how much it'd nourish the image-maker & the storyteller in me. A journey of such grand ambition is bound to bring about revelations, unlock inspirations and evoke an (endangered!) sense of magic in any human being. More so for those seeking artistic expression. So yeah...here we go!
