Shoebill Stork (Balanaeceps rex). These enormous and bizarre lookiing birds are highly prized by ornithologists. Their principal stronghold in the swamps of Southern Sudan are presently inaccessible due to security concerns, and so the swamps along the River Nile in Uganda are one of the safest & most reliable places to observe them at close quarters.
