My Scholarship entry - Alpine Fog
Italy | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 3 photos
I have a finance degree on the wall, but photography in my heart.
Ever since I was a young child I was enamored by the variety and expanse of nature and people that our planet has to offer. It has always been a dream of mine to travel the world and share my own images and stories with the world. The chance to go on assignment to Peru is the opportunity of a lifetime, and one that could prove that a career in photography can be a realized dream.
I am a self taught photographer who attempts to envision different perspectives of subjects and scenes, and do whatever is necessary to realize those ideas through my lens. Getting dirty, climbing the side of a cliff, and getting close to animals are all parts of the job that I embrace to push the limit of what I can produce. Where others may see discomfort, I see opportunity in a unique shot.
Working with Jason would be key in overcoming what I believe to be the biggest obstacle standing before an amateur looking for a breakthrough: the beginning to end process of an assignment; from heading out with a directive to the images ultimately ending up on the pages of magazines distributed around the world.
Kindly,
Nicholas Woelfel
