My Scholarship entry - A Work of Love

Born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa-currently at university studying Communications.
As a child my parents took me on trips throughout the United States instilling in me a passion for travel and a love of nature. My mother enjoyed photography and taught me about the craft before her death from cancer in my mid-teens. My interest in the subject has since grown. I am incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity to travel so much in my youth and greatly appreciate the education I receive, however, I know that with little professional experience, upon my graduation I will likely have to give up my love for travel and my aspirations for a career in photography in order to take an entry job.
This scholarship will allow me the chance to gain professional knowledge of photography in an amazing place, afford me occupational insight and a chance to grow my portfolio, as well as provide me with an incredible opportunity to travel-learning more about a new location, culture, language, and way of life. With the skills I will gain from this scholarship, I will gain the confidence to apply for a career in photography-a chance for the career of my dreams and an opportunity to see the world.
