Setting Down the Camera

My Scholarship entry - Changing Tides

USA | Saturday, November 8, 2014 | 5 photos

My name is Myles Marion. I attend NC State University and I'm currently chasing my dreams by continuing my studies on exchange in Hawaii. Growing up in a small town at the base of the beautiful Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina, my passion has always resided in action sports. I have had a board under my feet for as long as I can remember; snowboard, skateboard, surfboard, wakeboard. It's what makes me happy. It's where I find peace. My life flipped my senior year of high school when I held my first camera. I was currently in a band (I play guitar) and debating whether or not to attend college. I decided to give photography a chance and somehow my photos of musical instruments landed me in design school at NC State. As my passion for action sports grew, so did my love for photography. I am a big on being keeping the earth clean. Let's leave this world better than we found it. Living in Hawaii has taught me to appreciate the ocean. It is one of the most powerful, yet beautiful forces in the world. Capturing the beauty of ocean is one thing, and understanding its' beauty is another. Photography is about the experience behind the photo; sometimes you have to put the camera down.
