My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I don't get bored. I get curious.
At 18 I was bitten by the travel bug in Southeast Asia. I remember the smallest details, how every sight, sound and taste opened me to a larger world. Learning, I realized, is a matter of being open to new experience. This is a fundamental value for me: never stop being curious about the world.
This value led me to facilitating overseas internships. For several years I guided volunteer groups in Canada, South and Central America, and in West Africa. In 2007 I moved into the field of conservation and have since become part of the story connecting people to the environment in Northwest Canada.
During the past few years, my camera has helped channel and deepen my exploration of social, built, and natural geographies, both in Canada and through photography-based travel. I am increasingly using text and time lapse video. I have good core skills as a photographer and I am a focused learner. I'm told that I come alive when I'm lost in photography.
Greenland: I expect hard work. I expect to work for and with Jason as a mentor. I will use every detail of this experience to develop my ability to foster viewer's engagement with the world we live in.
