Sometimes I pretend I'm a Magnum Photographer

My Scholarship entry - My Ancestors Country

Uruguay | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

Mikaela began her journey of photography through music photography, at the age of 15. In 2011 she won young music photographer of the year through NME Magazine and Nikon, and since then her work has been exhibited internationally.

Mikaela is a first year photography student, passionate about the history of photography and with hopes to work in a gallery amongst such inspiring prints. Yet her greatest desire is to travel the world taking candid documentary photographs.

Despite her love for travel, she has been to no more than two different countries (other than Australia) and one of which she has returned to because of her love and connection to the small city. Montevideo, Uruguay the home both her parents fled during the late 60's, a place that still holds half her family, she had never met, crazy character she found she related far too well to, and a connection she still doesn't understand, yet for this reason she keeps going back for more.

These photos show the country for a loving tourists eyes.
