While explaining where the area’s other three lookout posts are situated, Nelson Matsewjwa points into the direction of Nelspruit, Mpumalanga’s capital city, South Africa. Standing at the top of the tower, Matsewjwa clutches onto his phone and a piece of "droë wors", which is dried and cured sausage. He has never tasted this typical South African snack, which was offered to him by a generous hiker visiting the post.

Since the beginning of 2012, 22-year-old Nelson Matsewjwa has been a fire watchman at the Kaapschehoop lookout post in Mpumalanga, South Africa. Matsewjwa, who originally comes from Swaziland, had to leave high school early due to his family’s financial situation. He moved to South Africa to work and save money, with the intention to return to his country and complete his education.
