My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

I´m a 30 year old brazilian who´s passionate about photography, travelling, knowing people and cultures. I currently live in London, pursuing my master in business degree. This story takes place in Morocco, and it´s about anonymous people and their lifestyle and culture. It was my first time in Africa and I was excited to see many different faces and places. The moment I arrived in Morocco I felt travelling back in time or to a distant imaginary world. Some corners seem to have stopped in time. People live more connected (not virtually) and simpler life. You see old friends stop in the middle of the road to shake hands and share the news. Small kids still play football on the street, something considered too risky where I grown up, São Paulo. In the country side, this feeling of being in ancient time is exacerbated. The Berbers have kept much of their old way of life and you can figure that from their knowledge of the desert and it´s mysterious ways.
Photography has for the present been “only” a hobby for a mix of reasons: lack of knowledge about professional opportunities in photography, lack of faith in required vs own abilities as a photographer and maybe some lack of courage of changing career at this point. It´s strange the feeling when you find something you´re really passionate about, but don´t know exactly how to achieve it, which steps to take, etc. Probably that´s what makes art so special, there´re no paved roads, no guided routes...In a way, this opportunity comes as a guidance star, a push, an eye opening moment...an unique incentive. It would be amazing and priceless to learn from renowned and talented people, to discuss and exchange experiences and reflect upon future opportunities.
