A Traveler's Shared Experience

My Scholarship entry - Ériu: Water, Land, Soil, Earth

Ireland | Thursday, November 20, 2014 | 3 photos

My name is Lisa Jordahl and I am from a small town in Wisconsin. I am in my last semester at St. Norbert College pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology with history and psychology minors and a teaching certification. What this mouthful means is that I hope to teach social studies in a high school setting. Even though I have been born and raised in Wisconsin, my love and interest of people has sparked my new wanderlust and urge to capture my experiences.

I believe I should be chose for this opportunity to travel with Jason because I love the idea of telling a story with a picture. With my recent traveling, I have found myself wishing to better capture my experiences. Each place I visit, there is an interesting tale to tell. With a quality photograph, memories may rush back to you, but the story of the experience may never find its way to an onlooker. I imagine that by capturing the “perfect” shot you can share an experience with a stranger. With the chance to improve my skills, I would be able to transform my technique, creating quality photographs to share with family, friends, and students. This photographic journey would shape who I am and how I impact others.
